As a preliminary event to the exhibition that Bogdan Ciocodeică will present at Kunsthalle Bega this autumn, we invite you to join a conversation about architecture, design, objects, and the inner space from which creative work emerges.
Taking the exhibition concept ”The Real Me Is the Voice Inside My Head” as its point of departure, the discussion will explore the relationship between the creative process and vulnerability, the ways in which we construct our identity, and the layers we build to protect it. Bogdan Ciocodeică will also speak about his own professional journey, tracing his transition from architecture to interior design and, ultimately, to object design, in a continuous process of “zooming in” on both space and the self.

Kunsthalle Bega is an independent, alternative, and experimental art space founded in 2019 in Timișoara, Romania, by Alina Cristescu, Liviana Dan, and Bogdan Rața, together with Andreea Drăghicescu and Lajos Ugron, through the Calina Foundation, a non-profit organization active on the Romanian contemporary art scene for almost twenty years. Neither a museum nor a commercial gallery, Kunsthalle Bega is dedicated to artistic production, curatorial experimentation, and critical engagement with contemporary culture. Through exhibitions, publications, educational initiatives, and interdisciplinary collaborations, it supports artistic research while fostering dialogue around current social, cultural, and aesthetic concerns. The institution places particular emphasis on the role of art publishing as a vital medium for research, documentation, and public discourse. Since 2019, Kunsthalle Bega has awarded the Bega Art Prize, recognizing outstanding contributions to Romanian curatorial practice. Recipients include Anca Verona Mihuleț (2019), Sandra Demetrescu (2020), Cosmin Costinaș (2021), Diana Marincu (2022), and Horațiu Lipot, Cristina Stoenescu & Gia Țidorescu (2023). In 2025, the prize was exceptionally awarded to Romanian artist Napoleon Tiron in recognition of his lifetime contribution to contemporary art.
Conceived as a platform for experimentation and critical exchange rather than a collecting institution, Kunsthalle Bega develops projects that bring together artists, curators, writers, and practitioners from across disciplines. Through its exhibitions, public programs, and research initiatives, it creates space for new artistic positions, encourages diverse forms of cultural production, and contributes to expanding contemporary curatorial discourse.
